Science - Making Copper Sulphate

In science students have been making the soluble salt copper sulphate.

We made this by reacting sulphuric acid (a clear liquid) and copper oxide (a fine black powder). This required students to work scientifically and safely using a variety of different processes which included; heating, dissolving, filtration and evaporation.

We are extending the activity by taking the small crystals we have made and seeing if we can grow them into much larger crystals.
