On the 7th of February, a small group of Year 10 and Year 11 students visited The Clore Learning Centre in Stratford-upon- Avon, to participate in a tailored Romeo and Juliet Workshop. Led by the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC), the day was sure to be a hit!
The workshop was led by Sam Redford, who is currently an actor for the Royal Shakespeare Company but has a career spanning over twenty years in the film and TV industry, from New York to London. In film, he has featured in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016).
Guided by Sam, the pupils were able to become immersed in the world of Shakespeare and transported to the streets of Verona. Students explored the play practically, unlocking language, themes and characters through some of the exploratory games and activities used in the RSC rehearsal room. All students had fun accessing the play in depth and a fabulous time slinging Shakespearean insults to their peers and teachers – what’s not to love, when all the world’s stage?
